What's on in Feburary 2010
Tassie’s events take on a good cause in February, with MSFest
bringing together some of the nation’s top artists for a music festival that raises funds for the Multiple Sclerosis society, and Festivale uniting local boutique and artisan food producers in a fun-filled weekend of great food and entertainment.
MS FEST – Saturday, February 6
A musical festival with a good cause, MS Fest was established to raise awareness and support the people in Tasmania living with Multiple Sclerosis. Last year, the festival helped raise over $150,000 for the MS society, which has gone to much needed programs and services assisting those in need. The 2010 festival, which is Tasmania’s biggest one day music event, will feature leading Australian acts including Eskimo Joe, Evermore, Kisschasy, Short Stack, Jessica Mauboy, Kate Miller Heidke, The Sundance Kids, Sneaky Sound System, The Potbelleez and top Australian DJ’s.
WHEN: Saturday, February 6
WHERE: Inveresk Showgrounds, Forster Street (Cnr Invermay Road), Inveresk
HOW: General Admission tickets cost $92 and can be purchased online via OzTix at http://msfest.oztix.com.au/default.aspx?Event=12535.
FESTIVALE – Friday, 12 to Sunday, 14 February 2010
One of Tasmania’s most popular food events, Festivale is held annually at City Park in Launceston, bringing together products from Tasmania’s boutique and artisan producers in one central location. This year, Festivale will feature new stalls from Bass Fine Wines, Cape Grim Burger products, Country Fresh Hot Spuds, Native Point Wines, Tasmanian Fresh Yoghurt, Taverner’s Boutique Brewery and Van Diemen Brewing among others, as well as new entertainment such as Dibalo, Juggling and hoola hoop workshops. Festivale will also feature Paddock to Plate on Sunday, February 14 between 10am – 3pm, which brings together 10 producers of gourmet foods to offer tastings and information on their delicious products. Paddock to Plate also includes a cooking session, where visitors are thought how to cook with garlic, preserved lemons, native herbs and spices, olive oils, saffron rhubarb and Tasmania’s own green tea. Perennial favourites including Ashgrove Cheese, Bruny Island Cheese, Bruny Island Oysters, Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, Jansz, Josef Chromy, Meadowbank Wines, Moo Brew, and Wursthaus will also return to the 2010 festival.
WHEN: Friday, 12 February: 5:30pm – 10:45pm
Saturday, 13 February: 11am – 10:45pm
Sunday, 14 February: 10am – 4pm
